SRINAGAR, Feb 15: Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs, Kiren Rijiju, highlighted the transformation of Hazratbal Shrine as a model for Waqf development across India during his visit to the revered shrine today.
Accompanied by J&K Waqf Board Chairperson Dr Syed Darakhshan Andrabi, Rijiju paid obeisance at the shrine and reviewed the ongoing development initiatives.
Addressing the media, Rijiju acknowledged the efforts of the J&K Waqf Board in revitalizing Sufi shrines under Dr Andrabi’s leadership, calling it a benchmark for similar projects nationwide. “As the Minister of Minority Affairs and Chairman of the Central Waqf Council, I am committed to strengthening the J&K Waqf Board and supporting its initiatives,” he stated.
Regarding arrangements for Haj pilgrims, Rijiju mentioned that, given the rising temperatures in Saudi Arabia, the Government has deployed additional medical staff to ensure the safety of Indian pilgrims.
Dr Andrabi briefed the Union Minister on the Board’s ongoing and future initiatives aimed at enhancing shrine infrastructure and facilities.
