SRINAGAR, Sept 9: High Court today asked the administrators of the State Co-operative Bank to file their reply over re-appointing a retired Managing Director as officer on special duty.
A Single Bench, comprising Justice Mansoor Ahamd Mir, asked the Board of Directors of the Bank to file reply.
The court had on August 7 ordered that officer on Special Duty, Mohd. Ashraf Bhat, shall not perform the duties as Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the bank under any name.
The court had observed that in total “disregard” the chairman of the bank has issued an order on August 20 where Bhat has been re-employed in the bank.
The petitioner, Muzaffar Ahmad Lalla, through his counsel advocate Aijaz Chesti filed a contempt petition against the officers of the bank, including its Minister, for “willful, deliberate disobedience” of the court order of August 7.
The petitioner has argued that the contemnor is allowing Bhat to function as CEO in the garb of OSD nomenclature without any power and authority.
The court after hearing the arguments of the petitioner issued a notice to contemnors to file statement of facts within four weeks.
