Srinagar, Feb 20: Observing that no steps have been taken by the Government on filling up of various posts in Food Safety Department, High Court today called Commissioner Secretaries Health and ARI as also the Commissioner Food Safety in the Court to explain the position about implementation of Food Safety Standards Act and the directions passed by the court from time to time.
Amicus to the PIL Senior Advocate Bashir Ahmad Bashir pointed out before the Court that since from passing of order on September last year, authorities have not moved a step with regard to advertising and thereafter filling up the various posts as also directed by the Court.
Division Bench of Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey and Justice Sanjeev Kumar after various deliberations on the matter and hearing both the parties at length directed personal appearance of Commissioner Secretary Health, Commissioner Secretary ARI trainings department and Food Safety Commissioner before the court on next date of hearing.
DB also directed these officials to be present before the Court with updated report about the implementation of FSSA and the directions passed by the court from time to time.
Quoting the directions of September 2018, the DB said the authorities were directed to inform the Court regarding the position of various posts which have been created for manning laboratories as well as mobile vans and disclose before the court the status of their recruitment on affidavit which was required to be filed within three weeks.
Authorities were directed that in case the recruitment process has to be effected, the respondents shall disclose the timelines within which the same would be completed. It was made clear by the Court that in case the process of recruitment for any post is yet to commence, the respondents shall ensure that the necessary action towards issuance of the advertisement inviting applications is positively completed within three weeks from today.
