JAMMU, Apr 7: The High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh has ordered that skill test conducted on April 2 for divisional cadre posts of Steno-Typist, held both at Jammu and Srinagar centres, will be treated as cancelled.
The skill test will be re-scheduled afresh and notified separately later.
After two days of the skill test, some of the appearing candidates in Jammu and Srinagar centres had made a representation pointing out that voice quality in the sound system during the dictation was not up to mark due to which most of candidates were not in a position to pick up the dictation properly.
Keyboards in some of the computers were also not functioning properly, they said.
The skill test (shorthand and Typing) for divisional cadre posts of Steno-Typist in subordinate courts of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir was conducted on April 2 at Shree Vaishnavi Institute of Technology Chowadi in Jammu and Faster Computer at Goripora Sanat Nagar in Srinagar.
On the day of examination, the candidates appearing in third shift at Srinagar Centre had informed that a passage text was circulating in Social Media indicating that it was same passage as was used for dictation test.
The Selection Committee considered the matter and resolved that though the apprehensions expressed by the candidates in their email messages and their representations didn’t conclusively prove that there had been misgivings, shortcomings or anomalies in the conduct of skill test, either at Jammu or Srinagar centres, still it was of the view that to allay any kind of apprehensions in the minds of candidates about quality of the test conducted and also it is expedient in the interest of justice, transparency and fair play to cancel the skill test conducted on April 2 and reschedule the test to other dates.
The Committee recommended that the Principal Secretary may place the matter before the Chief Justice.
The Chief Justice has accepted recommendations of the Selection Committee, an official order issued by Rajeev Gupta, Principal Secretary to the Chief Justice, said.
The skill test held at both Jammu and Srinagar centres has been cancelled and will be rescheduled and notified separately, the order said.
