HC closes contempt proceedings against DC Ganderbal

Srinagar, Aug 14: High Court today dropped contempt proceedings against Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal Shayimbir Singh after he tendered an apology before Chief Judicial Magistrate Ganderbal yesterday.
The apology tendered by the DC was forwarded by the CJM to the High Court for further proceedings. The Division Bench of Justice Atul Sreedharan and Justice Sanjeev Kumar closed the contempt proceedings in view of an apology submitted by the DC.
Shyambir Singh Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, who was facing criminal contempt before the High Court having been referred by the CJM Court, appeared yesterday before the CJM Ganderbal and filed an application seeking apology.
A written apology in the form of an affidavit has been filed by the DC stating therein that there has never been any deliberate or wilful attempt to interfere with the administration of justice.
Fayaz Ahmad Qureshi CJM Ganderbal after receiving the apology said that this court had provided sufficient time to the respondent- Shyambir Singh Deputy Commissioner to ponder over his apology.
The CJM placed the apology on file and submitted its copy to the High Court for further orders in light of the apology.
