Excelsior Correspondent
Srinagar, Sept 18: High Court has closed the much-publicized Public Interest Litigation concerning mushrooming of malls and complexes in Srinagar city in contravention of Master Plan with the observation that the issue is dealt with in another PIL by the court.
The Public Interest Litigation was filed in 2013 for removal of all illegal constructions from the city of Srinagar and to make it a hawker free city by removing all hawkers. Since the court has been informed that there is another PIL bearing pending before the court which takes care of all the issues involved in the instant PIL as such, the division Bench of Chief Justice Pankaj Mithal and Justice V C Koul said there is no need to continue this PIL separately and directed the same be consigned to records.
It is mentioned that a huge number of structures including complexes, shopping malls etc were raised across the erstwhile state which have been raised in violation of building permission and Master Plan and court after considering the matter in September 2013 directed for sealing of all these structures.
