HC directs CBI to submit status of investigation within 3 weeks

JAMMU, Sept 1: High Court today directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to submit the latest status of the investigation into the mysterious disappearance of 12 year old child from Vijaypur within a period of three weeks.
When the matter came up for hearing, Advocate Sheikh Shakeel Ahmed with Advocates Sheikh Najeeb Ashraf and Irfaan Mohd Khan, appearing for the petitioner submitted that the State High Court in October 2015, had entrusted the investigation of the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation and had expected prompt action from CBI as the local police had miserably failed to locate the missing child namely Vishal Sharma, son of Rajesh Sharma of Vijaypur.
He further submitted that almost six months have elapsed but the Central Bureau of Investigation has not taken effective steps to locate the missing child. “The petitioner (father of the missing child) is running from pillar to post but there is no headway in the matter”, he added.
After considering the submissions of Advocate Ahmed, Justice Tashi Rabstan directed Advocate Monika Kohli, Standing Counsel for Central Bureau of Investigation, to submit the latest status of the investigation with regard to the missing child within a period of 3 weeks. The court also issued notice to Director Central Bureau of Investigation.
