Srinagar, Aug 13: High Court today gave Police four weeks to file compliance report about appointing a man in the department in lieu of his land being used for constructing a Police Station in Rajpora in district Pulwama.
The court had earlier asked the department to appoint the petitioner as constable within eight weeks. However, the police failed to appoint him in the given time which constrained him to file a contempt petition against police for not complying with the court orders.
A Single Bench comprising Justice Tashi Rabastan today granted more time to file the compliance report and asked that if police fails to submit the report then Director General Police will remain present on next hearing.
The petitioner Mukhtar Ahmad Wagay of Rajpora represented by Advocate Shakir Haqani submitted before the court that he had given his land to the Police Department for constructing a Police Station for which he was to be appointed as constable in the department in the same manner as Javaid Ahmad Shah was appointed, who too has given his land to the Police Department.
The petitioner further said that police did not take any steps in his appointment.
