HC directs DGP to file ATR

JAMMU, Sept 6: In an alleged rape and murder of deaf and dumb girl, Justice Muzaffar Hussain Attar, has directed the Director General of Police (DGP) to inform the Court by filing an affidavit as to what action has been taken by delinquent officials in terms of the Court order dated April 25, 2012, whereby Court stated that local police and the functionaries of the hospital had been negligent in conducting investigation and preserving the vitals of the deceased for expert opinion.
After hearing Advocate Shah Mohd Choudhary appearing for the petitioners whereas Senior AAG Gagan Basotra for the State, Justice Muzaffar Hussain Attar, observed, “Special Investigating Team constituted by the Court has filed status report in a sealed cover. Perusal of the status report filed by Deputy Inspector General of Police, Udhampur, revealed that one Baldev, son of Kanshi Ram has been taken into custody for questioning”, the DB said, adding “the report also shows that he is prime suspect for commission of the offence”.
Upon this, Court directed Registry to keep the report in a sealed cover and list the case in the week commencing from October 2, 2012. The Court also directed SIT to file latest status report about the progress made in the investigation of the case by next date.
