HC directs DIG Crime to appear in person

JAMMU, May 23: In the much-publicized murder of NC leader Ghulam Mohd Rather, High Court today directed the DIG Crime and Railways to appear in person to make statement regarding status of investigation.
When the matter was taken up, Justice Janak Raj Kotwal observed, “perusal of the file reveals that the directions issued by this court vide order dated 07.04.2008 have not been complied with”, adding “neither the investigation seems to have been completed nor the status report has been filed despite repeated adjournments. Moreover, there is no representation on behalf of the State”.
Accordingly, Justice Kotwal directed DIG, Crime and Railways, Jammu to appear in person to make a statement about the status of investigation in FIR No.22 of 2007 dated 05.03.2007 of Police Station Gandoh transferred to the Crime Branch vide Order No. 2051 of 2007 issued by the Director General of Police.
