HC directs for demarcation, removal of encroachments on grazing land

Srinagar, Sept 3: High Court has directed for demarcation of a big chunk of grazing land situated in District Budgam and sought a report with regard to removal of any encroachments on the land.
The order has been passed in petition seeking direction to the authorities to  protect the “Mehfooz Kahcharie land”  which is reserved for grazing purposes for the entire village of Sheikhpora, Budgam from encroachments.
Justice Kazmi directed the authorities to demarcate the entire ‘Kahcharie land’ in village Sheikhpora, Budgam. Court has further directed to ensure that not even an inch of Kahcharie land is encroached upon by any of the villagers including private respondents.
“Let a report in this regard be submitted to this court by or before the next date of hearing. It is made clear that nobody including the private respondents shall be allowed to raise the construction on the recorded Mehfooz Kahcharie land in the village aforesaid”, court directed.
Senior counsel Pranav Kohli with advocate Imtiyaz Ahmad submitted before the court that there is a big chunk of land recorded as Mehfooz Kahcharie, which is being used by the villagers for grazing purposes and out of this Kahcharie land, the private respondents have encroached upon the kahcharie land and is going to raise various kinds of construction without any authority of law or approval from the Competent Authority.
The court besides passing of interim directions issued notice to the respondent-authorities and also to the Public at large returnable within four weeks which the court said to be issued in two daily Newspapers having wide circulation in Budgam.
