HC directs Govt for concrete steps on dog menace

SRINAGAR, Sept 11: High Court directed the Government to take concrete steps in implementation of the guidelines given by the expert committee on stray dogs.
A Division Bench, comprising Justice Mansoor Ahmad Mir and Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur, also granted Government two weeks to file status report with regard to the MoU between Animal Welfare Board of India and the State functionaries.
The court passed theses direction after hearing a PIL filed over the menace of stray dogs.
The Government through its Advocate General sought two weeks which the Bench granted and also directed for the personal appearance of the concerned Secretary to Government on the next hearing if it fails to submit the report.
