HC directs SIT to file fresh status report in disappearance of Advocate

JAMMU, Aug 4: High Court today directed the Special Investigation Team (SIT) to file fresh status report in the mysterious disappearance of Advocate Raman Wazir.
When the matter was taken-up, Special Investigation Team filed a status report mentioning the steps taken to trace out the missing Advocate. The High Court was informed all the police sources have been activated to get any clue about the missing Advocate and even list of bad characters, history-sheeters, budding goons and rowdies of the area was collected from the Police Station Nagrota besides, obtaining surveillance files and intelligence database in order to explore the angle of kidnapping as well.
The High Court was further informed that bank/ATM details of Advocate Raman Wazir are being collected in order to analyze recent financial transactions, besides recent brief history of family and relationship dynamics, the nature of personal land disputes of Raman Wazir and their status too are being explored by the SIT.
It was submitted that SIT was adopting proactive multipronged approach in tracing the missing Advocate Raman Wazir and accordingly some more time was sought from the court so as to achieve the desired outcome.
After going through the status report and hearing Advocates Abhinav Sharma and Pranav Kohli appearing for the petition whereas Senior AAG SS Nanda along with SIT Incharge, Justice Tashi Rabstan observed, “keeping in view the sensitivity of matter and to maintain the confidentiality of the investigation, brief in-camera proceedings with the members of the SIT, who are present in the court, were also taken up in the official chamber”.
“The investigation is in progress. A request for more time is made for bringing the investigation to its logical conclusion. The request seems to be genuine. Accordingly, three days time is granted. However, head of the SIT is directed to update the Bench about the investigation on day-to-day basis and file fresh status report on Monday”, Justice Rabstan said.
Meanwhile, the work in the State High Court as well District Court Complex will remain affected tomorrow as Bar has decided to continue strike.
