JAMMU, Nov 24: Granting relief to student leader and scholar Varinder Singh, the State High Court today  directed the Head of Buddhist Studies Department in Jammu University  to place the case of petitioner before Dean Research Studies who shall take steps to consider the case for being placed before Board of Research Studies (BORS) in accordance with the University statute.
The court also issued notice to Jammu University seeking  reply on the CMA within two weeks.
As per the case, the petitioner  Varinder Singh  had qualified NET in the year 2012 and applied for enrollment of Ph D  course before HoD Buddhist  Studies  by  submitting his form on 17/12/2012. He had also  deposited requisite fee,  which  was accepted by  the  respondents but the Registrar JU  later on  declared  admission of the petitioner as well as some other  candidates  invalid. The  petitioner  represented  his case and thereafter a meeting was  held by DRC   which  decided to conduct  the examination after deliberating the date and modalities  of the  registration course. The respondents  conducted the exam for Pre Ph. D Course in which the  petitioner  was declared  successful. The petitioner thereafter  requested Dean Research Studies (DRS) for considering the synopsis  in the earliest BORS but till date no action was  taken  there by putting the academic prospectus of petitioner to an irreparable loss and injuries.
