HC grants bail to former Cooperative Bank chairman

Srinagar, Dec 16: High Court today granted bail to former chairman J&K State Cooperative Bank and prime accused in multi-crore loan scam case.
Justice Sindhu Sharma while hearing bail application of Mohammad Shafi Dar then chairman of J&K State Cooperative Bank Ltd in a case of granting loan of Rs 223 crore, admitted the applicant-Dar to bail.
The applicant has been granted bail subject to furnishing personal bond as well as surety bond to the tune of Rs 50, 000 each to the satisfaction of the Registrar Judicial with the condition that he shall cooperate with the investigation as and when required.
Court also said that he shall not hamper and tamper with the prosecution witnesses and evidence as also will appear before the trial court on each and every date of hearing fixed by the court below unless exempted by the court concerned.
Dar has also been directed not to leave the territorial jurisdiction of the court without prior permission. He is accused of granting and sanctioning loan to the tune of Rs 223 crore to one Hilal Ahmad claiming to be the Chairman of River Jhelum Cooperative Building society for construction of Satellite Township in outskirts of Srinagar city.
