HC grants week’s time to DHSK to explain his position

Srinagar, Mar 23: Jammu and Kashmir High Court today granted one week’s time to Director Health Services, Dr Saleem-ur-Rehman, to explain his position for not attending the court committee.
“At the request of Mr Kawoos, Director Health Services Kashmir is granted further weeks time to explain his position as directed by the court in the last order”, directed Division Bench of Justice MH Attar and Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey.
court on last date of hearing had directed the Director Health Services Kashmir to explain the situation which prevented him for attending the court committee.
Court had early this month directed for the formation of three member committee to deal with swine flu. The committee is headed by Director SKIMS, Dr Shoukat Ahmad Zargar, and comprises Director Health Services Kashmir and Principal GMC, Srinagar.
The Court also directed the State Government to inform the court as to whether the amount released by the Central Government for the purpose of establishing testing laboratory for detecting H1N1 influenza has been utilized or not.
The direction was passed after the Union Counsel S A Makroo (ASGI), submitted before the court that Rs 2.47 crores have been released in the year 2013 for the purpose of establishing the laboratory in SKIMS.
Court also directed the governing body of SKIMS to take effective steps for implementing the recommendations of the court committee. It further directed that Government shall also look into to the recommendations made by the committee about the construction of 50 bedded hospital.
Court modified its earlier order where in court committee was directed to hold the meeting about the deliberation on swine flu weekly. “The order to this extent is modified and it is provided that the committee will now hold fortnightly meetings”, said the bench.
Court included Central Regional Director Health and Family Welfare in the court committee and directed the Director SKIMS to inform her about the convening of meeting of court committee so that she will take part in the same.
