Encroachment of 800 kanals of Wakaf land in Samba

JAMMU, Nov 24: High Court has taken cognizance of a writ petition highlighting encroachment of more than 800 Kanals of Wakaf land situated in Samba district and issued notices to Union Government and J&K UT administration.
The petitioner Shamas Din, son of Ghulam Fareed of Meen Charkan, Bari Brahmana, Industrial Complex, Samba has sought appropriate directions to the Commissioner Secretary Revenue Department (Haj & Auqaf Section), Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Deputy Commissioner Samba, SSP Samba and Administrator, Auqaf Department Samba to protect and safeguard the Wakaf properties from land mafia.
After hearing Advocate Irfaan Mohd Khan appearing for the petitioner, Justice Tashi Rabstan issued notices to Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Commissioner/Secretary Haj, Revenue and Auqaf, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Deputy Commissioner Samba, SSP Samba, Administrator Auqaf Department Samba, Chief Executive Officer Auqaf J&K, SDM Vijaypur, Tehsildar Bari Brahmana, SHO Police Station Bari Brahmana and others requiring them to file their response by or before February, 10, 2021.
Justice Tashi Rabstan further directed the officers/officials of district administration Samba and Administrator Auqaf Department Samba to consider the representation contended to have been filed by the petitioner highlighting encroachment of Wakaf land in district Samba within the notice period.
