JAMMU, Dec 21: Mirpur Balidan Bhawan Samiti, New Delhi has claimed that J&K High Court has given decision in favour of DPs of PoJK settled outside J&K with regard to PM package.
A spokesman of the Samiti said that in 1947 natives of Mirpur, Muzaffarabad, Poonch etc (Now called PoJK), were displaced and thousands of them killed by Pak raiders (Kabailees) after partition. Some of the people who survived, reached Jammu.
The then State Government of J&K allowed some of those families to settle in J&K and others (about 5300 families) were sent to other places of the country outside J&K. Presently, these families are settled in Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, UP, Uttaranchal, West Bengal, Goa etc.
On Deceber 22, 2016, the Govt of India granted a Prime Minister Relief Package under which an amount of Rs 5.5 lakh was to be paid per displaced family as relief package. A condition was imposed that this package will be given to only those displaced families from PoJK who are settled in Jammu and Kashmir. So, all the displaced people who were sent to other states of the country were ignored of this package.
Mirpur Balidan Bhawan Samiti, New Delhi filed a petition before the High Court of Jammu in 2017, requesting to grant the said relief to the displaced families also who were sent out of J&K and settled in different parts of the country.
The High Court of Jammu after hearing the petition reserved the order on April 10, 2023. The order has been announced in the afternoon of December 20, 2023 and it is learnt that the Court has announced the order in favour of the displaced families from PoJK in 1947 who are presently living in other parts of the country except Jammu & Kashmir. Detailed order will be known after receipt of the Court order.
