Srinagar, Sept 29: High Court today quashed the detention of a detenu and directed the jail authorities to release him unless required in any other offence.
Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey in a petition seeking review of the judgment whereby the detention of the detenu-Mohammad Abbas Dar was upheld, directed the jail authorities to release Dar from the preventive custody.
Dar had challenged his detention passed by District Magistrate Anantnag on March 23, 2019 and the Court on October 11 dismissed his plea and upheld the detention passed against him. He has sought review of the judgment on various grounds and the court after examination of the record found factually correct that the material and grounds of detention were not in fact furnished to the detenu.
