HC quashes select list of teachers

JAMMU, Apr 10: State High Court today quashed the selection and appointment of 295 General Line Teachers in district Rajouri.
After hearing   Senior Advocate D C Raina assisted by Advocate Anuj Dewan, Senior Advocate M K Bhardwaj and Advocate Vikram Sharma appearing for the petitioners whereas AAG Ravinder Sharma appearing for the Education Department, Advocate S K Shukla for the SSRB and battery of lawyers appearing for the private respondents, Justice Muzaffar Hussain Attar quashed the selection list.
The High Court also directed the official respondents to initiate fresh selection process and take steps to conclude the same within a period of eight weeks from the date of copy of this order is served upon them.
State Service Selection Board was directed to make fresh selections on the posts of teachers by getting the candidates, who were short-listed, assessed by the Statutory Selection Committee.  “Any short listed candidate, who has turned over aged, should be considered to be within the upper age limit for his selection process”, the High Court directed while disposing of all the petitions along with CMPs.
