HC restrains Govt from making allotment of 17 tenements at Jagti

JAMMU, Mar 1: In a petition filed by Veer Kumar Koul and 16 others, who have not been allotted two room tenements at Jagti Migrant Township, Justice Tashi Rabstan has issued notice to Commissioner Secretary Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Relief Commissioner and Assistant Commissioner (Camps), Relief Organization Jammu returnable within two weeks.
In the meantime, the High Court restrained the respondents from allotting 17 two room tenements to any migrant.
Advocate Sudershan Sharma appearing for the petitioners submitted that after eruption of militancy in Kashmir valley they were forced to migrate along with their family members in the year 1990. Later, they were formally registered as Kashmiri migrants and were allotted one room tenement at Nagrota Camp where they are living for the last more than 20 years.
“The respondents have conducted various verification and found petitioners eligible. Subsequently, they were recommended for allotment but instead of making allotments to them, the respondents are allotting tenements to non camps migrants and other persons which is against the policy and guidelines and object for which tenements were constructed”, the counsel for the petitioner submitted.
