JAMMU, Feb 22: In a petition filed by Sub Inspectors of 1995 batch presently Inspectors seeking directions to the State not to promote 45 Inspectors (who were appointed as Sub Inspectors in 1998) as DySP, Justice Mohd Yaqoob Mir today issued notice to Commissioner/Secretary Home Department and Director General of Police besides 45 private respondents returnable within four weeks.
After hearing Advocate S K Shukla appearing for the petitioners, Justice Mir ordered that till next date of hearing, status-quo with regard to the present promotion of 45 private respondents shall be maintained.
In the petition filed by 34 petitioners, it has been submitted that they were appointed as Sub Inspectors in the year 1995 and promoted as Inspectors in 2007 and 2008 and they were surprised by seeing the tentative seniority list of Inspectors whereby persons junior to the petitioners and who were appointed as Sub Inspectors in Police in the year 1998 had been shown senior to the petitioners in arbitrary and illegal manner.
