HC seeks latest status report in Dutta Finance scam

JAMMU, Oct 15: In the much publicized Public Interest Litigation (PIL) regarding cheating of people to the tune of Rs 50 crore by Dutta Finance Private Ltd and Others, Division Bench of High Court comprising Justice Virender Singh and Justice Janak Raj Kotwal today sought latest status report.
After hearing Senior Advocate S S Lehar assisted by Advocate Meharban Singh for the PIL, DB directed the counsel for the PIL to provide copy of the application to Senior Additional Advocate General and other advocates and directed Senior Additional Advocate General Gagan Basotra to file status report from the concerned vis-à-vis if any carried out in the criminal case registered against Gurbachan Singh Dutta and Others.
At this stage, Senior Advocate S S Lehar appearing for the petitioners pointed out certain lapses in the investigation. Taking note of the fact, Division Bench directed IO of the case to proceed further with the investigation in the light of submissions made by Senior Advocate.
