Srinagar, July 24: High Court has directed the authorities to keep record of Cabinet decision available with regard to appointment of Principal Government Medical College, Srinagar on next date.
Hearing an appeal filed by Dr Javed Chowdry challenging the order of Single Bench, the Division Bench of Chief Justice Badar Durez Ahmad and Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey disposed of the appeal with the request to Single Bench to expeditiously decide the matter.
Court directed the authorities to keep the records available. Court has directed for completion of the proceedings in the matter as the counsel representing petitioner submitted before the bench that the urgency for immediate disposal of the matter is because the petitioner is retiring next year.
Dr Chowdhry has challenged the appointment of recently appointed Principal of GMC Srinagar on the ground that it is illegal and against his fundamental rights.
Under the Cabinet decision dated April 28 Dr Samia Rashid has been appointed as GMC Principal. Dr Chowdhry challenges her appointment on the ground that he being the senior most member of the medical faculty has not been considered for the post in question.
