Killing of Jammu girl at Kathmandu

JAMMU, May 12: State High Court has set-aside the order of Trial Court in the much publicized murder of a Jammu girl at Nepal and remitted the case back to the Trial Court. According to the case, Romika Sharma, who was married to Sanjeev Kumar-an employee of M/s Rainbow Camera E-Pvt Ltd, Satunagal, Kathmandu, was found dead in the 2nd floor of the building nearby the factory of the company on February 14, 2003. With the assistance of Indian Embassy the dead body of Romika was brought to Jammu and accordingly State Police registered a case under Section 302/120-B RPC. Later, Union Government on the request of State Government handed over the investigation of the case to CBI. After completion of investigation, CBI presented challan in the court of law and the Trial Court discharged the accused persons. Against this order, CBI and uncle of deceased filed revision petitions in the State High Court. After hearing Senior Advocate P N Raina with Advocate JA Hamal for the CBI and Senior Advocate B S Salathia for the petitioner whereas Advocate M L Gupta for the respondents, Justice Mohd Yaqoob Mir set-aside the order of the Trial Court and remitted the case back to the Sessions Judge, Jammu, for proceeding in the matter afresh in accordance with the Code of Criminal Procedure. “The parties should ensure appearance before the Trial Court on May 26, 2012”, the High Court said while allowing both the revision petitions filed by CBI and Davinder Kumar, uncle of the deceased.
