HC stays construction on Nagdandi Ashram

JAMMU, July 19: State High Court has stayed any construction on Bhagwan Sri Ramakrishan Mahasammelan Ashram, Nagdandi, Achabal in South Kashmir district of Anantnag till the next date of hearing.

The directives were issued by Justice J P Singh of J&K High Court to Secretary Tourism, Development Commissioner Anantnag, Kokernag Development Authority Kokernag, Vivekananda Rock Memorial and Vivekananda Kendra, Vivekananda Puram, Kanyakumari Tamil Nadu on a writ petition filed by Lt Col (retd) Yoginder Khandari one of the Trustees of Bhagwan Sri Ramakrishana Mahasammelan Ashram Trust. The Court has restrained the respondents from making any construction on the property owned by the Ashram at Nagdandi.

Lt. Col. Yoginder Khandari secretary of the Trust in his petition stated that official respondents in connivance with the Vivekananda Rock Memorial Kendra were funding the construction through Government agencies on the property of the Ashram for the utilization of all communities and not for the exclusive use of followers of Sanatan Dharam.
