SRINAGAR, June 29:  High Court today stayed the dispossession of the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) land at Rambagh where the Government was proposing to construct a shopping complex for the displaced shopkeepers.
The Division Bench of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court comprising Chief Justice M M Kumar and Justice D S Thakur while hearing a pettition titled BSNL versus State and Others stayed the dispossession of the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited site and issued notice to the Government.
The State Government had issued notice to the BSNL under Land Acquisition Ac in 2010 for acquisition of land belonging to the BSNL at Ram Bagh Srinagar.
The BSNL had challenged the land acquisition by the State and approached the High Court. But the Single Bench of the High Court dismissed the interim application for granting stay to the BSNL.
The BSNL challenged the Single Bench order (dated 24-04-2013) in which the interim application for stay was dismissed.
