HC stays enquiry being conducted by SSP Rajouri

JAMMU, Sept 15: High Court today stayed the enquiry into Rs 44 crore food grain carriage scam being conducted by SSP Rajouri and issued notices to Chief Secretary, Assistant Director CAPD Rajouri and SSP Rajouri returnable within two weeks.
During the course of hearing, Advocate Aseem Sawhney said, “investigation is already underway by the Crime Branch in regard to the FIR No. 11/2012 but the SSP Rajouri has started parallel preliminary enquiry based on a complaint without registration of FIR which is not permissible under law”.
“SSP Rajouri against the cannons of established law and without any authority is conducting an inquiry into a complaint despite the fact that subject is pending probe before the Crime Branch Jammu”, he said.
After hearing Advocate Aseem Sawhney in length, Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur asked Senior AAG to file reply in the petition and ordered that subject to objections and till further orders, the enquiry being conducted by SSP Rajouri shall remain stayed.
