JAMMU, May 12: High Court today stayed proceedings before the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Srinagar against the then Minister of State for Health, Shabir Khan in a molestation case.
After hearing Senior Advocate Sunil Sethi with Advocate Ravi Abrol appearing for the petitioner-former Minister, Justice Bansi Lal Bhat observed, “the petitioner is seeking transfer of the case from the court of CJM Srinagar on the ground that he is feeling insecure as he is no more enjoying security cover and that the media has started a campaign to generate public opinion against him at the instance of some separatists”.
“It is contended that fair trail is not possible at Srinagar in the vitiated atmosphere and the case deserves to be transferred to a court at Jammu”, Justice Bhat said and issued notice returnable within two weeks. High Court directed CJM Srinagar to send the comments.
In the meanwhile, High Court directed that CJM shall not proceed further with the trial till next date.
