Srinagar, Mar 2: High Court stayed the selection of Executive Officer Khadi Village Industries Board (KVIB) after it came to fore that a candidate from the Open Merit (OM) category was selected for the post reserved for Backward Area category.
Justice J R Kotwal after issuing notice to Commissioner Secretary Industries and Commerce Chairman KVIB, Secretary KVIB as also the selected candidate Dheeraj Kumar of Doda district, stayed the selection process.
The petitioner Bazil Rashid of Anantnag through his counsel Ghulam Ahmad Lone stated that an OM candidate had been selected in RBA category for which no law exists.
It has been submitted before the court that the candidate Dheeraj Kumar had applied for the post of Executive Officer in the OM category under while as his selection has been shown in RBA category.
It has been argued before the court that petitioner has the merit and belongs to the RBA category to claim the appointment but he had been shown in the waiting list which was injustice to his selection.
