HC summons BOPEE officials

SRINAGAR, July 17:  Jammu and Kashmir High Court today directed the Chairman and Secretary of Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (BOPEE) to make their personal appearance before the High Court in the leakage of papers case.
A division bench of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court comprising Justice Verinder Singh and Justice Muzaffar Hussain Attar appointed senior advocate Bashir Ahmad Bashir as amicus curie today. Bashir has been asked to assist the court.
Advocate Muksha Kazmi filed the BOPEE response in a sealed covered envelop but the court directed that the envelopes will be opened in front of BOPEE chairman and Secretary who have been directed to make personal appearance.
The court had issued notices to the BOPEE asking it to file reasons before the court about leakage of the papers in BOPEE examinations last month.
The court had directed Chief Secretary and BOPEE authorities to give reasons for the leakage of the papers.
It may be mentioned here that last month the Common Entrance Test (CET) for Medical and Engineering Courses was conducted across the State. While the examination of Mathematics paper was being conducted few Biology papers were found in Chemistry packets in three examination centers of Government Girls Higher Secondary School Kothi Bagh after which the Board cancelled the Chemistry paper and accordingly Biology paper was postponed.
This led to huge public outcry and High Court took sumoto cognizance of the matter.
A student who had appeared in the BOPEE examinations this year today moved an application before the High Court that he will assist the court and court allowed it.
