NEW DELHI, June 12:
The Delhi High Court has directed the Delhi Development Authority to reserve some plots for those contenders who were allotted plots earlier in the 1981 Rohini residential scheme but were cancelled due to change of their addresses.
A vacation bench of Justice Kailash Gambhir gave these directions yesterday as the DDA will be holding the draw today.
The court heard the applicants plea who contended that they were successful in the draw held earlier, but DDA had cancelled it due to change in their addresses.
The DDA is going to hold the draw of lots today for some specific plots in which over 21,000 applicants have applied in the 1981 scheme.
Over 21,000 applicants were successfully selected by the DDA earlier for allotment of plots of various sizes like Janta LIG(Lower Income Group) and MIG(Middle Income Group.)
The court had passed similar orders earlier and asked the DDA to reserve plots for those applicants who were allotted plots earlier, but had been cancelled due to various reasons like change of their addresses or due to the fact that original applicant had died.
Justice Vipin Sanghi had directed the DDA to reserve some plots for such candidates, in case they finally succeed in court.
The court’s order came on a bunch of petitions filed before it challenging the DDA’s decision cancelling their allotment on the ground that letters were sent to them but had returned due to change of addresses.
The petitioners contended that despite their intimation to DDA of their changed addresses, their allotments were cancelled.
Pursuant to the HC directions in March this year which directed the DDA to hold draw and allot plots to over 21,000 applicants who had registered under the Rohini Housing Scheme in 1981, the DDA went into action and initiated the draw which is scheduled for today. (UNI)
