HC transfers girl missing case to CB

JAMMU, May 1: High Court has transferred missing girl case to the Crime Branch as Sunderbani Police has failed to trace her during the past two years.
The direction was transfer of case to the Crime Branch was issued after girl’s mother knocked the doors of the High Court alleging that Sunderbani Police has not acted in a professional manner to trace her daughter.
After hearing Advocate Vivek Sharma for the petitioner, Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur directed IG Crime Branch to constitute a Special Investigation Team which shall go into the issue and apply itself in a professional manner to investigate the case registered under FIR No. 89/2017.
Earlier, during the course of hearing, Advocate Vivek Sharma submitted that the petitioner’s daughter was married to one Ashok Kumar, son of Krishan Kumar of village Nallah in Sunderbani about 15 years ago and three children were born out of this wedlock.
Disputes and differences are stated to have arisen in the matrimonial home and it is alleged that the petitioner’s daughter was harassed on one pretext or the other including dowry. It was further alleged in the petition that the petitioner’s daughter was also subjected to mental cruelty and physical abuse.
