JAMMU, Oct 4: High Court today directed SSP Doda to hand over the mysterious death case of a woman to Crime Branch within a week’s time. The Crime Branch was directed to get investigation of the case conducted through a police officer not below the rank of DySP.
The direction was passed in a petition filed by mother of the deceased namely Shakuntla Devi, wife of Sarab Singh. The petitioner has leveled various allegations against the police as well as the accused and alleged that the police was shielding the accused (husband of the deceased).
After hearing Senior Advocate Sunil Sethi with Advocate Veenu Gupta for the petitioner whereas Deputy AG Salim Malik for the State, Justice Virender Singh directed SSP Doda to hand over the file of case to SSP Crime Branch within a week’s time. “The investigation shall be conducted without any waste of time preferably within two months”, the High Court said.
