HC’s directive on wine shops

JAMMU, Oct 27: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by two Advocates and one law student against mushroom growth of Bars & Restaurants and Wine Shops in the City of Temples, Division Bench of State High Court comprising Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey and Justice BS Walia today granted two weeks time to the Excise Department for filing response with reference to the license granted in favour of liquor shops near the places of worship, hospitals, educational institutions, State Highway and National Highway.
Advocate Suhasni Vasisatha appearing for the PIL submitted that directions were required to be issued to check mushroom growth of Bars and Restaurants and Wine Shops in the City of Temples in order to protect the society from the menace, which is adversely impacting the citizens, especially youngsters.
