SRINAGAR, Jan 21: The Vigilance Organization Kashmir today laid two successful traps and held a Range Clerk in Range Office Beerwah and a Head Assistant in the Office of Deputy Commissioner Budgam red handed while accepting bribe.
Nazir Ahmad Dar of Chewa, Wadwan Budgam, Range Clerk in the Range office Beerwa Budgam was accepting a bribe of Rs 1,000/- from the complainant to renew his Sale Depot License.
A Case under Section 5(2) P C Act Svt. 2006 read with 161 RPC Police Station VOK was registered and investigation taken up. The trap team was headed by Dy SP Mushtaq Ahamd under the supervision of SSP Vigilance Altaf Ahmad Shah.
In separate case, the Vigilance Organization caught red handed Gh Mahdi Pandith of Iskenderpora Budgam, I/c Head Assistant Land and Acquisition Section, Deputy Commissioner Office Budgam while demanding and accepting a bribe amount of Rs 3,000/- from the complainant.
The complainant namely Firdous Ahmad Dar had lodged a written complaint alleging that the said Head Assistant was demanding a bribe in order to release payment of Rs six lakh form Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Budgam. The payment was deposited by Army Unit Budgam against the land under its possession.
The trap team was headed by Dy SP Rafiq Ahmad Sheikh. The tainted money was recovered from the possession of the accused Head Assistant in the presence of independent witness. The accused was also arrested on the spot.
It is pertinent to mention here that the accused Head Assistant was earlier also caught red handed by the Vigilance Organization while demanding and accepting bribe in year 2007 and the case in this regard stands challaned in the court.
