UDHAMPUR, Oct 24: Headmasters’ Association of Jammu province has demanded release of promotion list of the Zonal Education Officers (ZEOs) which is pending for the last more than 10 months.
In this connection a meeting of the Association of Udhampur Unit led by Parshotam Singh was held here in which the members urged upon the School Education Minister, Sakina Itoo to resolve the pending issue of promotion of the Headmasters. They claimed that list of ZEOs for Jammu region has not been released for the last 10 months while many posts of ZEOs are lying vacant. Some of the officers have been given 2-3 charges and the functioning School Education department is suffering.
They also demanded release of the promotion list of teachers and Masters pending for the last more than two years. Many schools are badly suffering due to pending of these lists, they added.
It is very surprising that a lot of posts of Teachers/ Masters/Headmasters/ZEOs and Principals are lying vacant. High Schools, Higher Secondary Schools and Zonal Education Offices are functioning as headless, affecting the study of the poor and hapless students.
They demanded that Minister concerned Sakina Itoo and Principal Secretary, School Education Suresh Kumar Gupta must take cognizance of the matter and improve the functioning of the School Education department, which has been derailed since last five years.
