Health awareness program held at GHS Kandikaller Uri

Srinagar, Apr 18: A health awareness program was held today at the Government High School (GHS) Kandikaller, Garkote in the Uri area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district. The program, organized by two Kashmir-based NGOs, Saaya and Uri Foundation, had the theme of “Healthy lifestyle.”
The aim of the program, according to a statement by the organizers, was to educate children in this remote area about health and hygiene. The program began with a speech by Dr Asif, a Dental Surgeon, who spoke about oral health and shared tips and techniques on mouth hygiene with the students.
Nisar Ahmad, a health educator at SDH Uri, spoke about hand hygiene and demonstrated proper hand-washing techniques with the students. Mohammad Hanief, a local social activist, highlighted the alarming rise in drug addiction in society and stressed the need to address it at the grassroots level.
Amreen, a 10th-grade student at the school, delivered a speech on the importance of a healthy lifestyle. The program ended with a vote of thanks by Manzoor Mir, the vice-headmaster of GHS Kandikaller, who appreciated the noble efforts of the Uri Foundation for conducting such a program and thanked its functionaries.
The program was attended by almost 120 students and 10 teachers, and the session was moderated by Irfan Majid, a faculty member of GHS Kandikaller. Abrar Bhat and Bashir Ahmad Bhat from Saaya and Uri Foundation were also present at the occasion.
