SRINAGAR, July 20: Health and Medical Education Department today furnished incomplete information to the High Court regarding sanctioned staff strength in the health institutions across the State and actual deployment of manpower.
The High Court, while treating a news-item appeared in EXCELSIOR under caption “No MBBS doctor in 15 PHCs of District Udhampur”, as Public Interest Litigation, had directed the State Government for filing status report by July 20 indicating the sanctioned strength of Medical Officers and paramedical staff in the entire State apart from District Udhampur.
Today, the High Court was apprised by the Advocate General about the sanctioned strength of MOs for the District Udhampur only. He submitted that as against 112 posts of MOs in this particular district, only 36 are filled and remaining are lying vacant.
Taking serious note of incomplete information, Division Bench comprising Chief Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar and Justice Hasnain Masoodi sought information from the Advocate General with regard to strength of MOs and other paramedical staff in the entire State.
The DB directed the AG to file the status report by or before July 23 and ordered listing of the case for further proceedings on the same day.
