Srinagar, Oct 22: The Government has recalled 32 doctors appointed under Backward Category (RBA) to their home town for serving people in respective far-flung areas of the Valley.
The Health Department has issued an order No. 595-HME of 2014 on 20th of this month in pursuance of sub-rule (2) of Rule 3 of the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation Act 2004 to transfer and post these doctors in rural areas.
All the doctors figuring in the order, except those presently undergoing Post Graduate courses, have been relieved from their present places of postings with immediate effect.
“The doctors who are presently undergoing PG courses in Government Medical College, Srinagar shall join their place of postings after completion of the course,” reads the order. .
It said advance travel expenses admissible under rules will be sanctioned in favor of the transferred doctors.
These doctors were earlier posted in far flung areas to serve people for first seven years of their appointment. “But using their influence they had managed their posting in health centers and district hospitals falling in towns. Some of them were working in the medical colleges with their posts illegally occupied at the directorate run hospitals,” an official in the Health Department said.
While the Health Department is grappling with shortage of doctors, people in far flung and rural areas have appealed to the health authorities to post the doctors in their areas.
