SRINAGAR, June 8: Dr. Devinder Kumar Manyal, Minister for Health and Medical Education, called on Governor N.N. Vohra at the Raj Bhavan today.
Dr. Manyal briefed Governor about the various ongoing initiatives of his department for providing satisfactory healthcare facilities to the people. He also informed Governor about certain other important issues relating to the functioning of departments under his charge.
Governor and Minister discussed arrangements which are being made for the forthcoming Shri Amarnathji Yatra, relating to the location of medical camps enroute the Yatra tracks, positioning of doctors and para-medical staff, medical examination and issuance of Health Certificates to the intending pilgrims, stocking of medicines and essential equipments in Emergency Care Units along the tracks and in the medical camps, particularly oxygen concentrators.
Lt Gen. Ranbir Singh, who took over as Army Commander, Northern Command, last week also met Governor and briefed him about the situation obtaining along the frontiers of J&K and about issues relating to security management in the hinterland in the Kashmir and Jammu regions.
Governor discussed with the Army Commander certain concerns relating to the forthcoming Shri Amarnathji Yatra.
Ghulam Hassan Mir, former Minister also met Governor to discuss various issues relating to the growth and development of the State.
Governor stressed the crucial importance of ensuring that people’s welfare is assured under all circumstances and urged Mir to sustain his initiatives in this regard.
