Health worker tests +ve, another treated; active cases 5 in Ladakh

No fresh Coronavirus case in Jammu

JAMMU, Apr 15: A Health worker today tested positive for COVID-19 in the Union Territory of Ladakh taking total number of Coronavirus cases to 18 and active cases to five as another positive patient was discharged after testing negative twice. A total of 13 Corona patients have been successfully treated and sent homes in Ladakh.
In Jammu, no fresh case of COVID-19 positive was reported today keeping tally of the region static at 54 and active cases at 44 with nine recoveries and one death.
Commissioner/Secretary Health, Ladakh, Rigzin Samphel told reporters that a Health worker tested positive for Coronavirus today. She is a resident of Chushot Yokma village, which is already a Hotspot.
The Corona positive patient has been admitted in dedicated COVID Hospital of Leh.
At the same time, Samphel said another COVID patient has been successfully cured after being tested negative twice for Coronavirus. He was today discharged from the hospital in Kargil.
With today’s one more positive case, total number of Coronavirus patients in the Union Territory of Ladakh has gone up to 18. However, 13 of them have been cured and discharged from the hospitals while there were five positive cases now, four in Leh district and one in Kargil.

“After a student was tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday, the samples of his 30 colleagues in the school have been taken for testing while 20 more samples will be taken tomorrow. Samples of those students have been taken with whom the positive boy had come in contact,” Samphel said.
He added that condition of all five COVID-19 patients in the Union Territory of Ladakh was stable.
To a question on evacuation of the people of the Union Territory of Ladakh stranded at different places, the Government officer said there was no evacuation plan countrywide as well as Ladakh. However, the Nodal Officers have been appointed to help the stranded people if they face any local or health related problems, he added.
Meanwhile, nearly 150 samples were tested today for COVID-19 in Jammu region but till tonight all of them were negative.
No Coronavirus positive case was reported today from any part of the region, which kept the tally of Jammu static at 54.
However, out of 54, nine patients have been treated and discharged while there has been one death of a woman from Tikri in Udhampur district. There were 44 Corona active cases in Jammu region.
Yesterday, six persons including three doctors-two hailing from ASCOMS Sidhra and one from the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu, an ASCOMS staffer, a doctor’s mother and a man from Tikri in Udhampur district were tested positive for COVID-19.
