SRINAGAR, Nov 11: In response to the reports of the inactive heating systems in the peripheral hospitals in Kashmir, the Directorate of Health Services, Kashmir (DHSK) today said that heating systems are well in place, and functioning.
Dr Mushtaq Ahmad Rather, Director, Health Services Kashmir, informed that all the heating systems, such as ACs, and gas heaters are currently in place and functioning in critical areas like labour rooms, theatres, newborn beds, and more.
He noted that the reports which are circulating on social media are baseless and there is no need to pay heed to such “inaccurate” reports as the ground situation is quite contrary to it.
Dr. Mir Mushtaq, spokesperson, DHSK, said that a circular has already been issued regarding heating arrangements on November 7, under which, the concerned authorities have been directed to make necessary heating arrangements, apart from other winter preparations, which, he said, have been duly implemented.
The circular directions, officials said, were issued to ensure preparedness for the winter season, regarding which, all the Chief Medical Officers, Medical Superintendents and Block Medical Officers of Kashmir Division were directed to mobilize and gear up all the resources including ensuring power backup, setting-up of Control Rooms at District as well as at the level of Sub District Hospitals and heating arrangements in all Government healthcare facilities so that the patients are managed properly.
At the same time, the officials were directed to avoid referrals to the tertiary care hospitals, especially when all the roads remain cut off during the snow in Valley, except in emergency cases.
