Heavy rain in J&K, traffic disrupted on NH

SRINAGAR/ JAMMU, Apr 3: Heavy rain lashed Jammu and Kashmir today with weatherman forecasting fairly widespread light to moderate rain and thunderstorm till tomorrow.
Kashmir was lashed by heavy rains since morning, making people to shiver. The incessant rains led to water-logging in certain areas of Srinagar.
In many parts of Jammu region also, heavy to moderate rain was witnessed today. Flash flood and waterlogging created traffic disruptions on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and other parts of the region.
Traffic was also disrupted for about 3-4 hours in Mehar, Cafeteria Morh and Panthyal area of Ramban due to mudslide and shooting stones. The highway was later restored by the authorities.
A Meteorological department official said that fairly widespread to scattered light rain and thunderstorm was expected during the subsequent two days in J&K.
Srinagar recorded a low of 7.9°C against 6.7°C the previous night and it was 1.5°C above normal for the city.
Qazigund recorded a low of 5.1°C against 3.5°C the previous night and it was 0.7°C above normal for the town.
Pahalgam recorded a low of 3.0°C against 2.7°C the previous night and it was 1.3°C above normal for the tourist resort.
Kokernag recorded a low of 5.2°C against 3.1°C the previous night and it was 0.1°C above normal for the place.
Gulmarg recorded a low of 0.5°C against minus 0.6°C the previous night and it was 0.1°C above normal for the skiing resort.
In Kupwara town, the mercury settled at 7.2°C against 6.6°C the previous night and it was 2.0°C above normal for the town. Leh and Kargil recorded a low of minus 2.5°C and 3.6°C temp, respectively.
