Heavy shelling in RS Pura

JAMMU, Jan 17: Pakistani Rangers tonight resorted to shelling and firing on forward Indian positions along the International Border (IB) in RS Pura sector in which a BSF jawan was reportedly martyred while a civilian was injured.
Reports said Pakistani Rangers targeted forward posts of BSF and some civilian areas in RS Pura, Suchetgarh and parts of Arnia sectors at about 10.30 pm.
Reports said that a BSF jawan was injured in Pakistan shelling and firing in RS Pura sector. Unconfirmed reports, however, said that the jawan attained martyrdom.
The BSF retaliated effectively, leading to heavy exchanges, which were going on when the reports last came in.
Three days back, Indian Army had gunned down seven Pakistani army personnel and injured five others in their Kotli sector opposite Mendhar in Poonch district.
There was panic among the villagers living along the International Border, reports said.
