JAMMU, Feb 25: Heavy traffic jam was witnessed today on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in Ramban district.
According to the reports, as soon as the Highway was opened for traffic after Friday closure on account of maintenance, the vehicular traffic came to a standstill with vehicles plying on highway at snail’s pace.
Moreover, the intermittent incidents of shooting stones in Mehar-Cafeteria stretch also contributed to the traffic jam. The 20 kilometer stretch between Chanderkote and Digdol was the most affected with traffic jam due to single lane.
This was the situation when only light motor vehicles were released on the Highway from both sides and heavy vehicles. However, traffic police personnel were on the job to clear the traffic jam and ensure free flow of traffic on the highway.
