JAMMU, Oct 7: National Democratic Party Indian (NDPI) State president, Rajesh Gupta has said that traffic violations are ‘minor offences’ for which hefty fines are unjustified.
Gupta expressed shock over suicide attempt by an auto driver in Bohri area after his vehicle was seized by traffic cops for violating rules under new Motor Vehicles Act.
“An auto driver earning about Rs. 1000 per day cannot be in a condition to pay hefty fines,” Gupta said appealing to the Governor to look into the matter as the new MV Act will only help cops to ‘extract higher bribes’ to let off violators.
