Heptulla announces to sit on dharna over waqf properties

LUCKNOW, Apr 2:
Union Minority Welfare Minister Najma Heptulla today charged the Akhilesh Yadav government of Uttar Pradesh for ignoring the welfare of the the minorities in the state.
The Minister even threatened to sit on dharna in Lucknow if the UP Government did not provide all details of the waqf properties to the Centre.
“There are over Rs 1.5 lakh crore waqf properties in UP which could be used for the development and welfare of the minorities. But unfortunately, UP government was not keen in giving any information to the Centre for their own vested interested,” she alleged while talking to reporters during her day long visit here.
The Union Minister, though did not take any names but her attack was directly against UP Minority Welfare Minister Mohammad Azam Khan. Dr Heptulla alleged that the state government do not attend the meeting of the national waqf council and even do not reply to the letters of the ministry and nor send utilization certificates of the funds spent on the central sponspored schemes.
“The Samajwadi party Government only beat drums to propogate that they are doing much for the minorities but in reality they were doing nothing and not even cooperating with the Modi government’s schemes to provide better education, employment and skill trainings to the minorities,” she said.
The Union minister said that Centre had increased the corpus fund of the minority finance development corporation from Rs 1,500 crore to Rs 3,000 besides till now and 25,000 minority children have been imparted with skill development and Rs 2,000 crore have been spent on providing them scholarships.
