SAMBA, Nov 26: The DDC Samba Mubarak Singh today inaugurated two days awareness cum/training programme for school teachers of Samba district organised by Indian National Trust Art and Culture heritage, (INTACH), Jammu.
Speaking on the occasion, the DDC said that the main aim of organising this programme is to aware the teachers about the importance of the conservation and protection of India’s natural and cultural heritage so that they can aware students and society too by passing this message of conservation .
He said that INTACH has pioneered and is today the largest membership organization in the country dedicated to conservation besides these INTACH has taken up restoration and protection of hundreds of monuments that fall outside the coverage of Archeological Survey of India and other Government agencies.
He also threw light on the role and objectives of INTACH and said that among the tasks undertaken by INTACH are restoration of monuments and their management, advocacy for heritage property conservation, public awareness through heritage walks ,establishment of heritage clubs in schools, and holding of awareness workshop for teachers of schools and colleges and heritage walks to various unprotected sites.
He impressed upon the teaching faculty to aware the students about the importance of conservation and protection of natural and cultural heritage especially located in the district viz. Samba Fort, Mohargarh Fort, Purmandal and Utterbeni heritage sites.
Earlier ,Dr Sonia Jasrotia resource person from Jammu University briefed about the INTACH and different activities done by the organization to stimulate and spearhead heritage awareness and conservation in India.
Among others CEO Samba, Mangal Dev, S M Sahini, Dr. Lalit Gupta, former faculty Fine Arts , Principals, Teacher of various schools attended the programme.
