JAMMU, Oct 25: A meeting of the Jammu Heritage Society was held under the chairmanship of its president, Bhuvneshwar Gandotra to deliberate upon the recent developments of Tourism sector of Jammu.
Bhuvneshwar Gandotra complimented Lt Governor Manoj Sinha for his interest in Mubarak Mandi Complex, the seat of power of erstwhile Maharajas of J&K.
Tour of Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha of Mubarak Mandi and issuance of directions on spot of its preservation will go along way to restore this historic site. However, illumination of the outer wall of Mubarak Mandi has still not been done for which funds stand sanctioned.
Bhuvneshwar Gandotra also complimented Deepika Sharma, Director Mubarak Mandi Heritage Society for her continuous efforts to save this historic site.
The just conducted tour by Principal Secretary to Lieutenant Governor, Niteshwar Kumar of Jammu city, and visit to heritage sites including Mubarak Mandi and other places, besides expediting the Smart City Project will also play an important role in promoting tourism of Jammu.
He lamented the recent ignorance of Jammu region by the Parliamentary Standing Committee delegation.
When the PSC could spend almost a week in Srinagar and meet people related with tourism trade and other stakeholders, the Jammu visit was not there because of reasons best known to the authorities.
At least in their visit the Jammu tourism stakeholders would have brought to their notice the immediate development of Bhimgarh Fort in Reasi, Bahu Fort in Jammu, Hiranagar Fort in Kathua, Akhnoor Fort and other forts of Jammu Region besides Mubarak Mandi and Ambaran in Akhnoor which are very important for heritage and religious tourism of Jammu.
It is also pertinent to mention here that the sanction of Rs.120 crore for development of Mansar lake circuit got sanctioned by Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Cabinet Minister and implementation on war-footing thereof.
The Jammu city known as city of temples should be brought on tourism map on war footing which is famous for Raghunath temple, Shri Ranbireshwar Temple, Shiv Temple of Peer Kho to name a few.
The Border Tourism of Suchetgarh besides water sports on Ranjit Sagar Dam are other spots to be developed, he added.
The meeting was attended by Ashwani Arora, Ajesh Rohmetra, Amit Goel, Om Prakash Gupta, Sanjay Gupta and Sanjeev Kalra besides Vinod Malhotra, Sanjay Sethi and Baldev Khullar.
